QUANTITATIVE FINANCE ASSOCIATION

Quantitative Finance Association at UNC-Chapel Hill
Mission Statement
To provide a platform for quantitative finance majors and students interested in quantitative finance to understand the field and network with professionals/like-minded peers.
Members of the club will have access to internships, alumni, and faculty who can help further their careers in quant. We will provide background on analytical models used in financial engineering that are derived from mathematical models used in physics. In addition, the Quantitative Finance Association will be a network that members can rely on for career coaching, peer collaboration, and academic support.
About
The Quantitative Finance Association seeks to help in the professional development of those students interested in quantitative finance careers, to foster the sharing of information concerning quantitatively driven financial topics amongst the entire UNC community, and to build relationships between UNC and quantitative finance practitioners.
We will regularly host events that allow students of different backgrounds to intermingle and discuss their experiences and goals in quantitative finance. Professionals with quant backgrounds can teach concepts used in the field, specifically those explored in physics, math, and computer science, as well as their applications in finance. Additionally, these professionals can describe their experiences in the quantitative finance world and upcoming developments in the field.
We are the only organization on campus that will discuss the intersectionality between mathematics, physics, computer engineering, and finance. Current quant majors or students considering the major do not have access to a student-supported quantitative finance network, and we aim to change that. With the implementation of the Quantitative Finance Association, students will have access to resources specifically tailored for quantitative finance, such as internships, alumni, faculty, and a strong peer network.
